There are a limited number of allergy clinics available in the UK. Most NHS hospitals outside of London do not offer allergy diagnostic facilities and if available long waiting lists are in operation. Unfortunately this has led to a proliferation in so-called "alternative" allergy clinics and diagnostic services. Many of which offer unvalidated tests and inappropriate advice for allergy sufferers.
The British Allergy Foundation (BAF) was renamed Allergy UK and is an excellent UK-based site, with wonderful resources and contacts for allergy sufferers. They are a charity specifically set up to support allergy and intolerance sufferers and their doctors.
The Surrey Allergy Clinic offers private allergy consultations in London, Guildford and Surrey. Providing orthodox allergy testing and allergy management in accordance with the "good allergy practice" guidelines of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI). is based in Hampshire and is a wonderful support organization for anaphylaxis sufferers. It has a wealth of information on Nut Allergy and anaphylaxis management.The
American Academy for Asthma, Allergy and Immunology also has a great website and database, covering all allergic disorders in an easy to follow format. Allergy Society of South Africa website has a comprehensive information database on most allergic disorders in an easy to read format and some excellent links including the Allergy Advisor Food Additive Database and AllAllergyNet - Dr Harris Steinman's superb Allergy Portal.
